Since Ontario's announcement on the return to Step 2 of the provincial lockdown restrictions, York University has begun the process for a complete return to in-person learning by February 14, 2022.

Rather than prioritizing the health and safety of students, staff and faculty by implementing best practices as outlined by community safety focused scientists and public health guidelines, York University has opted to meet the minimum legal standards outlined by the corporate aligned Ford government. We, the York Federation of Students, call on York University to recognize the significant impacts caused by an abrupt and unsafe return to our campuses. York University’s Senior Administration must maintain its commitment to safely serve the York University community.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continuing to pose chronic risks to public health and safety, students demand flexibility and autonomy of access to education and course delivery, campus health and safety including ventilation and capacity limits, and consistent access to adequate and up-to-date Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Share your concern over the abrupt and unsafe return to in-person learning, and send an email to President Rhonda Lenton, Provost and Vice-President Academic Lisa Philipps, Vice-Provost Students Lucy Fromowitz.
